Congratulations, Santa Fe!

I would like to congratulate the Sante Fe Roadrunners on their victory. I am glad you got a win, even though it's against my team!

Can't wait to see what ole Cheeks/Vortex has to say about the TT getting beat by a last place team.

He said, "Thursday night in Santa Fe was one to forget for the Texas Tornado. For the 4th time this season, the Tornado failed to score a goal in a game and lost 1-0 to the last-place Roadrunners. The Tornado dominated the 1st period, outshooting the Roadrunners 16-5. The 2nd period was a battle of special teams, but both the Tornado power play and Roadrunners power play fizzled with the man advantage. In the period the Roadrunners outshot the Tornado 5-3. The 3rd period started with a Roadrunners goal from Brandon Johnson just :10 second in. Johnson was left alone in the slot and one-timed a blast past Tornado goaltender #33 Troy Redmann. By the time the Tornado turned on the pressure in the 3rd period, it was too little too late as Roadrunners goaltender Chris Carslon shut the door."

Game Recap from SF

First period was all Tornado unfortunately with no points scored.
Carlson bailed his defense out on several occassions. SF came out very physical and it cost them defensively a few times when they went for the big hit rather than playing the puck.

Second period was nothing but Power Plays. TT PK was excellent all night with a couple of short handed opportunities that just didn't find the twine. On one PK the puck spent the first 35 seconds of the kill in the SF zone and SF didn't register a shot. A total of 7:45 seconds was played at even strength.

Third period off the opening draw Arnason jumped in behind the defense and one timed a great pass. From there the puck spent much of the time in the SF zone. TT applied a lot of pressure and had many opportunities but Carlson again came up big. PK was big again killing off a 1:20 5 on 3.

Blatchford, Messier and Archibal all had good games.

Now for the Refereeing. Peerson is such a clown. No, he did not loose the game for the TT or make a lot of one way calls, but this guy has to be the worst Ref in the league. He was not letting either team play the game. The Interference call he made against Redmann in the first was criminal.

Redmann had just played the puck off the right hand post and was still standing in his crease. A SF player circle around the back of the net and ran over Redman from behind. Whistle, 2 minutes Interference on Redmann. There were other calls that he did or didn't make, gut in the end they pretty well evened out so there was not a lot of benefit for either side.

I will let you know how tonight goes.

There was a quote form the SF coach in the local paper that I will paraphrase (for some of you - that means that I will quote as best I can but it may not be exact) "I have never had a 7 game loosing streak and don't want to start now... we have work all week on defense during practice."

I can guarantee you the SF team I saw last night was not playing like the SF team that the Bandits swept with a 19 - 6 scoring differencial.

They came to play last night and were very physical right out of the box.

I just noticed the topic of this thread.

"12/15 Tornado VS Santa"

Apparently even Santa Claus has had enough of the Tornado.

You will also note that I said Peerson did not loose the game for the Tornado and that the calls tended to even out.

So, I wouldn't exactly call that whining.

If you want to see whining, I can check back through past WF Fan posts and find plenty for you.

Of course, if you really want the best whining, you simply can't beat the Tornado website.

Mr. Vortex can write a whine with the best of them.

I don't know where you were sitting but from my vantage point Redman was outside of the crease trying to get back from the boards.

The SF skater was coming hard from center ice and was trying to thread the needle between the goal and Redman, Redman with the blocker and glove, clearly extended both to to knock the player into the net.

Criminal call - NO - Questionable call maybe.

I think the deciding factor was that there was an intent to take the SF player out of the play and Redman made that decision when he extended his arms.

Nado Warning:

Don't blow off the RR's. They played us tough all three games. Just could not get past Riley the first two. They are a VERY GOOD team that needs maybe one more year to put it all together. After the Bandits' poor play against Springy, we were ready for the RR. Otherwise, we could easily have lost to them.

Bottom line: you can't take any games against anyone in the South division for granted.

(Don't take offense if you are not in the south division. I can't comment on other divisions because I haven't seen them play.)

I agree GM50...the teams in the southern division are very evenly matched.

I don't see any whining in the quote from the TT website above.

4161,

I was sitting in the end nearest the Tornado goal.

The SF player was coming from behind the net when he ran over Redmann from behind. And yes Redmann did extend his arms trying to maintain his balance.
