Voth, Buchanan and Latos

Does anyone remember the Latos-Buchanan fight in Wichita, last game of regular season 1995!? Ill never forget it. Nothing but Bombs!

Who could forget that? That was an epic battle! Buck sure was tough. If I remeber right the Iggies won that game and were very cocky about it. They had that goalie we called Barney and BillyDee. But the Latos/Buck was a no holds barred, both guys throwing with all their might. I remember how hard Latos hit and the time he tuned up Craig Jonson in OKC and he had two black eyes for almost a month because of it.

Derek Parker

Right.

Parker has all the potental(sp) in the world but I would not mention him in the same thread as Coxe, Shoebottom, Brookbank and a few of the others. Those guys have been thru wars for years when 25-30 fights in 25-30 games were the norm.

One of the better middleweights was Kyle Haviland who played for Memphis, the Crows and some other wiffle and CHL teams.

What about the Sheriff, Jacques Mailhot? I don't think he played in the CHL but he did play in the WPHL.

I don't think of it in terms of dealing out like most. The amount of punisment one can take, that is tough. And therefor my vote Jeff Lieter hands down. I can punch a concrete wall all day and at the end who's the one bleeding. That guy was inhuman.

You do make a good point. In that case, I give my vote to the puck. It gets hit with a stick night after night!

In the checking department, Lieter was the best, hands down. I don't think I've seen a more consistant checker before or after him. Unfortunately that's as far as it went. Couldn't back it up when the guy he checked took exception to his checks.

My alltime favorite Leiter moment: Two seasons ago when the other goalie (I think Colorado?) was trying to get our goalie to fight, and Leiter got away from the linesman and punched the goalie in the face! It's on the highlight DVD.

Not sure if it's the same situation you mention, but he did clock the Memphis goalie Racine, while the Thunder were playing in Memphis. It's in my personal top five of highlights of all time of minor league hockey. Heard behind me: "Racine had that one coming." Some Memphis fans even applauded.

That was the one! For some reason I was thinking it was Colorado. Thanks for correcting me!
