BARONS WEEKLY REPORT
BARONS 8 GAME WINNING STREAK COMES TO AN END
The Cleveland Barons traveled to Ann Arbor, MI Sunday to face the under
-17
USA National Development Team, with an 8 game winning streak on the
line.
The Barons would jump out to a 1-0 lead on Carter Camper’s (Rocky
River, OH)
18th goal of the year on the powerplay with linemates Josh Leonard
(Allen
Park, MI) and Tomas Petruska (Presov, Slovakia) picking up the
assists.
Cleveland would go up 2-0 on Joe Greener’s (Basingstoke, England) 3rd
goal
of the year from Aaron Pietila (Brighton, MI) and Ryan Ward (Saline,
MI) .
In the third period the USA squad would mount their comeback with four
minutes left in the game , David Kolomatis would score on the back
end of
a 5 on 3 powerplay to cut the lead to 2-1. The game would be tied with
41
seconds left, with an extra attacker, Mike Cieslak would tie the score
at
two apiece. Team USA comeback was complete when Richard Manley’s shot
found
theback of a crowded Cleveland net, with less than one second remaing
to
give USA a 3-2 victory. Cleveland’s goalie Bobby Jarosz (Crystal Lake,
IL)
had 25saves in the contest.
STREAK FACTS
The Barons top line of Carter Camper, Josh Leonard and Tomas Petruska
combined for 52 pts over the past eight games,Camper (4g-10a-14pts),
Leonard
(4g-13a-17pts) , Petruska (11g-6a-17pts). Goaltender Bobby Jarosz was
8-0-0
with a 1.75 GAA and .948 save pct. The Barons defense has improved from
3.9
average goals allowed per game to 3.2 goals allowed per game.

Barons forward Carter Camper continues to lead the NAHL in scoring with

goals and 19 assists for 47 points, linemate Josh Leonard is tied for
second
place with 16goals and 23 assists for 39 pts. Defensman Pat Goebel
(Parma,
OH) continues to lead all NAHL defensmen with 7 goals and is 10th over
all
in scoring in the NAHL.
FORMER BARONS ON WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP SQUAD
The Cleveland Barons would like to congratulate two members of the
Barons
youth program that has made the USA World Junior Championship in
Vancouver,
BC. Tom” Buzz” Fritsche (Parma, OH) and Nathan Davis (Rocky River, OH)
have
been chosen to represent the United States. Fritsche, went from the
barons
to the USA National Development Program and is currently a sophomore at
The
Ohio State University. Davis, also went from the Barons to the USA
National
Program and is currently a sophomore at Miami University.
UPCOMING GAMES
The Barons will make their final trip before the Christmas break, they
will
play the Alpena IceDiggers on Friday and Saturday night at the Northern
Lights Arena, game time 7PM both nights. The on Sunday, Cleveland will
have
a noon game in Traverse City, MI against the Traverse City North Stars.
