Best Fighter

Who's everybodys vote for the best fighter in the NHL at the moment?

I'd have to go for either McGrattan(sp) in Ottawa or Boogaard with Minnesota.

Sorry to put a damper on your little thread but my response would be who cares, enforcers are going the way of the dinosaur. Dying

If you had said best cheap shot artist it would be Turd B. aka Todd Bertuzzi hands down, no contest, with out a doubt Smile

Ottawa's Zdeno Chara is a pretty damn good fighter. Chris Simon isn't bad either. Laraque can really lay the hurt on folks as well.

Top five

Big George
McGratton
Brasher
Orr
Boogieman

There are guys out there who may be tougher/better fighters but with fighting way down it is hard to tell at this point in the season.

I am an Av's fan as well, but I think you should really get over the Bertuzzi issue. It was a cheap shot, but it is done and over. 2 years ago. Give it up.

Guess again. If hockey enforcers were indeed "Dying" then teams would not be continuing to work with players like of boogard who has got him a spot on the Wild. I will give you that the hockey "Goon" maybe dying but not enforcers. Fighters must be able to skate to play at the NHL level.

As far as the Bertuzzi deal you might want to let go of the resentment as it will eat your soul.

Although you might want to keep an eye on Avery with the Kings as he could be the next Moore. Start sh!t he can't finish.

Has anyone at this site ever heard of stirring the pot? I figured since this NHL forum is doing so fabulous I would TRY and get some people talking. As far as the Turd B. thing I'am over it even though justice IMHO was NOT served. It's worth it to me to see him booed in EVERY arena but his and have a subpar season. Laughing So I guess I'm not the only one who still has resentment toward that piece of human garbage. Shocked

Goon, enforcer lets not split hairs they are the same thing. Yes you have a point about tough guys having to be able to skate but it goes further, they also have to be able to contribute in some other ways, like drawing penalties, scoring every once in awhile. In other words their sole purpose is NOT fighting this isn't the minors. I would be willing to bet next year we will see even less fighting and even less "enforcers" or whatever you want to call them because they are obsolete wether you want to admit it or not, which is why I could care less about duh uh duh who the best fighter is huh hu duh Netty duh

You might want to tell all the other fans in every other arena the same thing and at least I have a soul. Can Turd B. say the same?

Totally agree with you about Avery. I'm hoping it will be his ex-teammate Ian Lapperierre who kicks his ass in a FAIR FIGHT not some sucker punch from behind and then a pile driver into the ice.

As far as your stupid little barb towards Moore I think you need to watch the game and then maybe have room to talk. Moore stood up for himself against Cooke and dropped the gloves in a fair fight against someone his own size and kicked Cooke's ass and Crawford and the rest of the poor loser Casucks couldn't handle they were getting destroyed and they couldn't get any fair revenge against Moore for his CLEAN HIT on Naslund so they went the cheap shot way as they always do and attacked him from behind. True to form for the Casucks and their squad of poor sports and cheap shot artists, if things don't go their way they always resort to playing dirty and acting like children.

I'm starting to wonder is everyone at this site a Turd lover or what? Confused

Yeah there is just bunches of subjects to discuss over here right? Rolling Eyes It may be two years old but lets face it I'm not the only one bringing it up and still talking about it. However since I seem to have touched a nerve with you Turd lovers I will cease and disist with the Turd talk. Wink

Monsieur Avery needs to watch himself when he is visiting the Mile High City, for this little lady has taken issue with his Anti-France Propaganda.

Evil or Very Mad

Oui oui, that would be nice, to see a Frenchie beat the sh*t out of Avery!

Ahhhh, come now my little Avs fan, that's some pretty harsh wordage there! I don't think the Canucks are any more "cheap" than just about any other team in the league (OK, Bertuzzi hit not included; that was cheap). Now if I recall, a former Av (ahhh, by the way, my heart is still broken) has been known to throw a few cheap shots as well. See State's Evidence A below.

Foppa Goes NUTS

That video cracks me up everytime I see it! Very Happy

LMAO! yeah I just wish the Avs still had Forsberg. I would take keeping him and letting Blake go any day of the week. Canucks still have A BUNCH of cheap shot artists, the most in the league but then again thats what you expect when a team is coached by Crawford. Wink

HH

Canucks, Cheap Shot Artists?

I just have to disagree with you on this one. There are other teams that have several, what some may call "cheap shot artists" on the payroll. Maybe it comes down to what each individual person considers a "cheap shot artist"? If you and I are going to discuss this, maybe we should each define our parameters.

I am curious HH who, on the Canucks roster, do you consider to be "cheap shot artists"?

Current Top 10 (Based on 2005 performance)
1. Derek Boogaard
2. Colton Orr
3. Georges Laraque
4. Donald Brashear
5. Brian McGrattan
6. Jesse Boulerice
7. Todd Fedoruk
8. Wade Belak
9. Jim Vandermeer
10. John Erskine
HM: The Calgary Flames entire team. Leading the league in fights, AND sitting fifth in the division. Well done, gentlemen!

Active Top 10 (Based on career performance, weighted toward recent years; must be active at some level of pro North American hockey to be considered for the list)
1. Eric Cairns
2. Donald Brashear
3. Georges Laraque
4. Scott Parker
5. Tie Domi
6. Peter Worrell
7. Krzysztof Oliwa
8. Derek Boogaard
9. Todd Fedoruk
10. Reed Low
HM: Ryan Vandenbussche, Stephen Peat, Chris Neil, Darren Langdon, John Erskine, and Jody Shelley.

All-Time Top 10
1. Bob Probert
2. Nick Fotiu
3. Dave Brown
4. Behn Wilson
5. Clark Gillies
6. Marty McSorley
7. Joe Kocur
8. Dave Richter
9. Glen Cochrane
10. John Kordic
HM: Jay Miller, Timmy Hunter, Dave Semenko, Bob Nystrom, Stu Grimson, Terry O'Reilly, Mel Bridgman, Tie Domi, Rob Ray, and Stan Jonathan

And as for the Nucks having a bunch of "cheap shot artists," the only ones who immediately come to mind are Bertuzzi (only one incident comes to mind there though) and Ruutu. A guy like Brookbank is a good clean fighter. Jovanovski is a hard hitter, Lee Goren is a grinder. I hate the Nucks as much as anyone, but cheap shot artists? Nah...
