Blizzard - Blues Game 5

What a fun game, both teams made the long drive back from Springy. First period was kind of a feeling out period. 2nd period was all Springy, finally slipping one past Leets after a bad play by the Blizzard defense. Alex tied it at one right away in the 3rd and controlled the period. In the OT the Blizzard were all over them but couldn't put the puck past Cook. Blues got a PP with about 5 1/2 minutes left and had a couple of real good chances. After the penalty expired, Blizzard forechecked hard, took a nice low, hard shot and Cook gave up a huge rebound that came all the way out to the high slot where Hines picked it up and buried it. From 3-14-2 and deep in last place to the division championship. Wow. At least now, no other team in the Central can complain about schedule strength. The Blizzard fought through two, hard played 5 game series and now they're headed to St. Louis!

Thanks BK. The fans in Alex have waited 5 years, 3 straight years dropping out in the first round was rough. The great thing about last night's game was that it was a clean game and the winning goal wasn't scored on a fluke or mistake, just hard work. Both teams played their hearts out. It's always hard on the team that loses game 5, as the Blizzard fans well know. Sounds like quite a few fans are headed down to St. Louis, so should be a fun week.

Definitely hard on us, but we overachieved as it was and there's no shame in losing to that Blizzard team. They stepped it up and as much as people here want to talk about the travel schedule, I for one am tired of making excuses -- we got beat. We had every chance to win game 3 and we had chances to win game 5. Travel my ass. The hats have got to go off to Alexandria.

The B2 feed was pretty good. Sometimes the puck was hard to see and sometimes the commentator would talk about something behind the play or that was just out of the camera's range. That was slightly annoying but definitely a step up from the one I watched earlier in the season.

Kaiser, Hines, Ravndalen, Zuwek, McRae were all amazing...alongside Leets. Clement also deserve mention for creating the turnover that ended the thing. Hines got the goal but that was a lot of Clement's hard work.

Now you Blizzard fans and team need to promise us -- bring that damn Cup home. Everyone underestimates the central and do you guys really want to hear another year of St Louis bragging? Or the South Division think they're so much better than the rest of the league? Bring that shit home. We'll be cheering for you guys here.

I MIGHT be at the Friday game versus MV but more than likely I'm catching the later game with the Bandits v. Roadrunners. But hopefully a lot of the Blizzard fans stick around because I didn't get to talk to any of them while they were here. The Licktieg group sat on the other side of the rink. Small crowd but they were vocal when they needed to be.
