Blizzard make it a game

i see by my close attention to pointstreak that Alex has fought back to tie the game 2-2 in the third after falling behind 2-0.

I don't think many people expected this.. the last half period should be great. check

and so it ends 3-2 Bandits.. still a good showing for the central division representative..

So after day one Topeka and St Louis both have a mark in the win column. No real shockers though both games were close 3-2 affairs.
Day two will pit the RR vs Blizzard and StL vs MV, with both the day one winners having a chance to set up a day three matchup of unbeatens (as well as an elimination game for the winless teams). This is honestly the best set up for the Robertson cup since i started following it 5 years ago.

Bandits controlled the 1st period, 2nd was kind of a toss up, 3rd period was all Blizzard. Game winning goal came on a shot that bounced off the glass behind the goal, right to the Bandit forward on the other side. Boards seem to really tight here, lots of strange bounces.

On a side note, kudos to the arena staff for painting the rink the week before the tournament. Sticky, blue paint coming off everywhere, on your shoes then to the seats and clothes. Morons.

I also thought the Blizzard outplayed the Bandits as the game went on, but the difference was Heeter. He was outstanding, especially in the 3rd!! Enjoyed the band in the beer tent after the game.

I didn't think Heeter was tested all night until Alexandria scored on a shot that fooled him. (maybe he was asleep) Then Alexandria had many good chances and tied it up on a rebound. Bandits looked like they were skating in quick sand. No legs, no energy, nothing. Either they get better or they don't repeat. I think my predict of one bad game came true. Now they will turn it up and get it going. Topeker did a fine job in game 1. Saw last two periods and they played their trap to perfection frustrating MV more skilled team. Both games were boring as Topeker and Alexandria sat back and played for mistakes. Topeker was rewarded with a big win, Alexandria almost pulled off the upset. Band last night in the tent had about 4 people listening to them. Yawn.

OK, let's all do St. Lou impersonations:

"I watched Topeker and that boring trap they learned in the rodeo arena. I can't believe they won again. How do a bunch of corn farmers play hockey with all that manure on the ice? I guess I'll have to watch more of Topeker this weekend zzzzzzzzzzz . . . "
