Buccs Game 1/18/2008

My daughter took me to my first Buccs game on Friday night. I had a great time. Lots of excitement & energy!

Towards the end, when the Buccs had 5 goals, people started yelling "We want donuts."

What did that mean?

They probably have a deal with a doughnut place that if the team scores so many goals they get free doughnuts. I would guess six would have been the magic number. We used to have a deal with cicis pizza that if our Scarecrows scored 5 goals we got a free buffet.

If the Bucs score 6 or more goals and win the game, Krispy Kreme will give you a half dozen donuts free...something we haven't gotten in a looooooooong time...

Thanks, BucsDM! Krispy Kreme would have been out some $ that night - the place was pretty close to full.

My next question - Are all the games that well attended, or was the $1 beer a draw for a lot of the people?

I thought it was neat seeing people tailgate in the parking lot in under 10 degree weather!

We have a very good crowd of loyal fans, although sometimes it can be sparse...however on Buc Beer Night, you will find a lot of what we call "tourists". They aren't hockey fans per se, they are there for the beer and as they hope, fights.

There were several times we got the donuts last year, but this year we've not been doing so well.

She's a hockey addict & attends Bucs/Stars games. She wanted me to see where she's been hanging out. I approve!

I have a friend who went to Drake...albeit several years ago, but by all means come back! We like converting people into Bucs fans. The team needs all the encouragment they can get right now...last night's game was...hard to watch if you're a Buc's fan...I'm not sure tonight's is going to be any better...

That like totally makes me want to go to Urbandale more often. Which main street is it off of???

86th IS a main street...take a left off Hickman at Perkin's...you'll drive right by it...

Sweet. I know where that is. I have to go to beaverdale today. I'll get some doughnuts for bible study tonight.
