Cooper officially gone

I know there was a lot of talk about this a while back, but nothing definitive that I can recall.

The Gamblers have now officially announced the hiring of Cooper from St. Louis. Not that big of a surprise, but at least it is now official:

Congrats and good luck.

Green Bay just got one hell of a coach. I had the pleasure of meeting him and his wife at the Tournament. Best of luck to him.

It appears that congratulations are also in order on the birth of his twin daughters the day before the Bandits won the championship again.

Coop is no doubt a great coach and has done a great job with the Bandits. However it will be interesting to see him stand on his own without Burkhart recruiting for him and NHL hall of Fame guys helping to convince players to play for him. I am not bashing him, I am just interested to see how he does.

I don't think Coop will have any problems with recruiting. But, thanx for pissing on this thread, anyway.

As I said on the "unofficial" Coop to GB thread: Congrats, Coop! Best of luck with your new team. The Bandits will sorely miss you.

And, of course, congrats to you both on the birth of your girls!! Good luck charms they already are. Clown

Oh, btw, for those Bandits fans in Texarkana that still pass thru here but don't post, Chuck is going to have Coop on the radio show some time next week. I'll let you know when a date certain is determined.

When tuning in to that local ESPN Radio Show, I think I would rather hear Junior call in and talk about his love life. Sorta reminds me of some Wichita Falls posters on GR and how great they are at staying on topic.

You are assuming that Burkhart is not still recruiting for Coop (or will not in the future). If I was a betting man, I'd wager you are wrong about that. As for convincing kids to play for him, a couple of national championships and a shitload of D1 commitments will likely go a long way towards convincing kids to play for him; no hall of fame guys needed IMHO.

Remember Pops pm, besides being one of the MV coaches and or stick-boy, is a small bitter man. All of his posts have a built in excuse or caveat...”we had guys injured”, like every team that played for the last 7 months doesn't have guys injured, “our player was slew footed”, “he had NHL HOFer’s recruiting for him”, “everyone on our coaching staff is either follically challenged or height challenged.” pm you really only make yourself look ridiculous with your petty backhanded attacks, even a 13 year old girl can see through your bs. Coach Jon Cooper Steps Down

Chesterfield, Mo.- May 12, 2008 Jon Cooper has resigned his position as Head Coach and General Manager of the St. Louis Bandits to accept that position with the Green Bay Gamblers of the USHL. Jon Cooper has led the St. Louis Bandits to 5 straight years of play off appearances and two back to back NAHL Robertson Cup League Championships.

"The St. Louis Bandits sincerely appreciate Jon’s many contributions to the organization and wish him well in his new capacity. Jon will be assisting the Bandits in the upcoming NAHL draft and will be involved with the Bandits as we transition our coaching responsibility" said Michael J. Brooks, Managing General Partner of the Bandits.

The St. Louis Bandits have begun the selection process for our new Head Coach and G.M. and will be focused on the objective of competing for another League Championship. "The St. Louis Bandits are proud of both our winning tradition and our league leading capacity for advancing young men to NCAA Division 1 programs. Our new Head Coach and G.M. will be committed to continuing that performance." Brooks said.

Kelly Chase, Vice President of Hockey Operations for the St. Louis Bandits and a member of the ownership group, is managing the Head Coach and G.M. selection process. Player try out camps will be held as scheduled and the Bandits will strive to announce the new Coach and G.M. as soon as possible.

Kiss My ass. I speak the truth and you all are to busy drinking the kool-aid to see my points. Reality is:

1. I like Coop alot.
2. He is a great coach.
3. I am sure he will do well
4. HE HAD ALOT OF HELP IN THE PROGRAM HE WAS IN!
5. BURKHART IS A PHENOMENAL SCOUT AND WAS A BIG PART OF THE SUCCESS IN STL.
