Doug Sauter

I don't know if anyone can confirm this or not, but I just read on the Mud Bugs board that Doug Sauter's mother past away tonight. If this is indeed true then my thoughts and prayers go out to him and his family. There is never a good time for something like that to happen but I can only imagine being around the holidays makes it that much worse.

It is indeed true. His 93 year old mother passed away this morning. It was announced at the Season Ticket Holder Dinner tonight. Best to him and his family.

He will be in Canada for awhile - they also announced that we would be getting a substitute coach for awhile - that he was in route. Interesting.

Thoughts and prayers as well. The only good thing you can say is I'm glad she lived a full life.

Blazers coach Doug Sauter will miss the team's next three or four games, while making funeral arrangements for his mother.
Henriette Sauter, who had breast cancer, died Tuesday afternoon in Fairlight, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was 93.

"She had a wonderful, wonderful life," Doug Sauter said. "She wasn't suffering or anything else. She had three sisters live to be over 100."

During Sauter's absence from the Blazers, their interim coach will be New Mexico Scorpions coach Ray Edwards. The Scorpions are taking this Central Hockey League season off, while the new Rio Rancho Events Center is being built in suburban Albuquerque.

"Ray is expected to get here Thursday, and he will coach the team through the weekend, and then next Wednesday's game at Colorado will be determined at a later date," said Brad Lund, the Express Sports CEO.

The Blazers host Fort Worth on Friday night and Tulsa on Saturday night, then play a Sunday afternoon game in Tulsa.

Edwards, the 2003-04 CHL coach of the year, coached now-defunct San Angelo to 37-19-8 and 32-22-6 the past two years. His overall coaching record is 161-127-35 over five seasons.

Henriette Sauter was preceded in death by her husband, Donald. She is survived by five children, Doug, Mike, Wade, Judy and Glenna, and 22 grandchildren. Services are pending.

Brighter outlook: The mother of another Blazer from Saskatchewan, scoring leader Garrett Prosofsky, is recovering from ovarian cancer.

Prosofsky was given permission to leave the team for a few days last season to be with his mother. Since then, Jewel Prosofsky's health has improved considerably.

"She's doing good," Prosofsky said. "Her treatments are going good and everybody's real positive. She feels good and she has lots of energy and she's happy right now, so it's good."

Prosofsky's mom and dad, Ivan, visited Garrett over the Thanksgiving holiday. They'll return with Garrett's brother and two sisters and their families for Christmas.

"We're just living life every day, and that's all we can do," Prosofsky said.

Centomo returns: The Blazers' goaltenders are back to full strength.

Sebastien Centomo has returned to the team after playing two games in goal for Manitoba in the AHL. He was outstanding in two games for the Moose, with a shutout and an overtime win. He was 2-0-0 with a 1.44 goals against average.

During Centomo's absence, the Blazers had Oklahoma City chiropractor Jamie Burroughs as their backup goalie for two games and Michael Dilorenzo as their backup in the last two games. Dilorenzo had been waived by Laredo, despite a 3-0-1 record and 2.21 goals against average.

Sean Connors has started the Blazers' last four games in goal, going 3-1-0 with a 2.50 goals against average and .925 saves percentage.

Connors and Centomo will both start this weekend, with the Blazers playing three games in three days.

"We'll let Dilorenzo go," Sauter said, "but I've faxed every team in the league. I really like Dilorenzo. I think he's a fine young man and a good athlete and hopefully we can find him a job."

Thanks Tim, this really truly shows everyone that pond scum is indeed way above you.

There are some things that are way more important then sports and rivlaries. Family just so happens to be one of those things. I would tell you to show some compassion and some class, but you are obviously incapable of either.

Plese don't lump Tim Talon in with all the Eagles fans. He most likely is a very lonely little man who lives by himself and only friend is the monitor in front of him. Only gets his kicks by knocking people and teams on the internet. If ever confronted in person would cower in a corner. THE good news is that he does not live with his Mother. She Kicked him out at the ripe age of 45 because she was tired of his lazy ass laying around the house doing nothing.

My thoughts do go out to the Sauter family, especially Doug and Hardy.

Colocoach.

TimtheTalon's rude comment

Maybe if you are raised by wolves it's hard to tell who your Mother is.
