Marc and barkeepnd are right--Fairbanks played a great series. And all you Ice Dogs fans can be damn proud of your team.

Especially after playing all of them in Topeka.

Best of luck to the RR in St. Louis! Rest up and gear up for the big ice.

Topeka has some forwards that can take advantage of the big ice (Kamrass, George, and Jendras come to mind), but the D-men are really going to have to adjust their game accordingly. If that happens, I like Topeka's chances to win it all. Look out, MV...

Nice series! Topeka should have drawn much better, but that gives everyone something to do in the off-season.

Just got home and I'm going to bed.

Just want to say congrats to Fairbanks on a great series. Kind of fitting it came down to overtime really. Through the first 300 minutes of this series, both teams scored the same number of goals. One goal was the difference in this entire series.

I'll post more thoughts on the game tomorrow, but that was an amazing series and both teams should be proud of the way they played.

No head hanging tonight...

Fairbanks gave Topeka all they could handle...

What a great series...both teams fought hard to the last second...

Fairbanks was on one hell of a road trip and to play the series in Topeka...hats off to those boys...

Game five, overtime, that's what it came down to...

Congrats to both teams, and again...WHAT A SERIES!

It's the Monday morning hangover and folks are still giddy here.

I think Kev hit the nail on the head. 300 minutes of hockey decided by 1 goal. Its the type of game you hate to see one team lose. Two good hockey teams going hammer and tong at one another...it just doesn't get any better than that. But we know about that in the South don't we.

I think the key was mental. Topeka came out in overtime and just started skating with authority. Merriam made a spectacular save in front of me and that was the lift the kids needed. They hit the relentless button and it was over.

I have to point out that anyone who says Fairbanks isn't a good team because of the schedule they play...well that's just nuts. Those kids are just super and Reichard made the series what it was. No shame. They're just a superb team!

Thanks for all your best wishes. We'll try to acquit ourselves to your satisfaction to bring back the Cup to the South.

I am still a bit emotionally drained this morning after last night but I did want to say that this was one of the best playoff games and series I have seen in my life. There was no quit in either team and it showed night after night and took overtime to sort it out. It broke my heart that someone had to loose that game. Through all of the adversity the Fairbanks team played with so much heart and grit and it was a pleasure to interact with them back in the tunnel. Those are some great young men who represented Fairbanks well, not only on the ice but off ice as well. I wish them nothing but success in their post NAHL careers. I also wish Coach Profitt well as the GM next season and I'm sure Coach Hauge will do an excellent job behind the Fairbanks bench and continue the tradition of moving players on to College. He had a great coach to apprentice for.

It was one of the best series of hockey in the history of the game. Both teams played through craziness(Zamboni and power outage) and the Roadrunners were able to get it done. I would like to thank Fairbanks' players for their class, and wish them the best of luck. Now for Topeka and Alexandria( the two teams that actually qualified for the cup championships and didn't back into them) to meet up in the championship game. Let's Go Runners!!!!

Best series in the history of the game???? Rolling Eyes

Believe it or not Topeker fans, there have been great series in hockey before this five game homestand. Laughing

Life will be a shock to those who venture beyond the confines of the Kansas wastelands and come to civilization to see the Nationals. Our Zamboni actually works, as does our power. Here is a link to help all of you. http://www.robertsoncup.com/

I can only imagine 50 Topeker fans huddled around the only computer at the local library reading all of this......

Good luck to all 4 teams, but my Bandits will prevail. From what I hear, this will be a first class event, held at a hockey rink, not a rodeo arena. It will be a great week. Cool

Last night was amazing. The fans in Topeka are the most dedicated that i have seen in the NAHL so far. When refs are booed at other arenas, there isn't that much passion and hate behind it. Also, I have not been that into a hockey game in a long time the way I was last night.

I felt bad for Fairbanks because they played their hearts out and I saw them come back to the hotel last night and it was just heartbreaking to see their faces.

I hope the roadrunners can do a spectacular job at nationals!!!
