Future Hall of Famers

I was just watching the beginning of the San Jose Sharks/Phoenix Coyotes game and the announcers were making the comment that Curtis Joseph is a future hall of famer. So I thought yes he's been a good goalie for his career but I don't think he's hall of fame material. so then I thought who if they would retire right now has the credentials to make the hall of fame.

some of the names I came up with were

Joe Sakic
Steve Yzerman
Chris Chelios
Niklas Lidstrom
Jaromir Jagr
Luc Robitaille
Mike Modano
Brian Leetch
Dominick Hasek
Sergei Fedorov
Peter Forsberg

I'm sure there's a few others that I'm missing since I'm doing this off the top of my head. Anybody want to dispute any of my picks or add some of their own? Remember I'm looking for players who have the credentials right now over those who are on their way.

I hear all sorts of Red Wings fans calling Chris Osgood a future hall-of-famer.

Please shoot me.

I think Recchi will be in, as will Shanahan. Belfour is a fairly likely one too. Leclair had a great career, but I just don't think he's done enough to get in. Nieuwendyk is a guy who should be in, but I do wonder a bit if he'll get the respect he deserves or not.

Any thoughts on Claude Lemieux, Dino Ciccarelli, and Mike Gartner and their likelyhoods of getting in? How about Rick Tocchet now?

I think Gartner will eventually get in and I really hope Dino will but I feel he's borderline. Claude Lemieux doesn't deserve it in my book.

Yes please shoot me too if Osgood gets in.

Dino has over 600 goals, and he did it all on some pretty crappy teams, if memory serves me correctly. He should be in.

Someone needs to start a campaign to get Bob Probert in. If not him, then maybe John Ferguson, the original enforcer.

Note that a good number of players on the first list were from the last great potential dynasty...the 2001-02 Red Wings...

If Ozzy gets in, they better let Angus Young in too...no offense, Ozzy, but you weren't exactly spectacular in Detroit, St Louis, or the Isle...

Brodeur will be in.

Scott Stevens
Brendan Shanahan
CuJo will make it, solely on his career in Edmonton and Toronto, forget Detroit and Phoenix.
If Stevie Y DOESN'T get in, shoot me.

You might want to add Al MacInnis. He won a ring with Calgary, and the Conn Smyth trophy, in '89. And helped lead the Blues to the playoffs every (full) year he was with St Louis.

I agree he belongs in the Hall but I did say current players so that's why he didn't make my list
