Hockey Coverage Sucks!!!

I don't know about the other areas that our GR posters live in but hockey coverage I have to give a D+ down here in North Texas. I was also a little ticked off about how NBC cuts out of a very important game that Ottawa won in OT over Buffalo. The Ducks are my favorite NHL team but I didn't get to finish watching the game I would hope that NBC didn't cut out of the OT today for some poker show or infomercial. The NHL wants to talk about getting fans back into the games and stuff but how are we supposed to when NBC pulls a boneheaded move like that and instead shows something else. I don't see FOX, CBS, or ABC doing something like that.

From what I understand Don Cherry is going to join the NBC broadcast crew during the finals. Can you say MUST SEE TV!!!

Everything's on VERSUS. We don't get VERSUS. If we had VERSUS I would have been able to watch the end of the OTT/BUF game. I was out of town, but someone recorded it for me. I'm glad they didn't put the ANA/DET OT on VS.

The problem with NBC is that they have too many things going on. They think if they schedule a playoff hockey game that starts at 2:00pm it should end at 4:30pm. But as we all know, it very rarely ends when it was supposed to. They almost always run over, which would be ok, but then they schedule another event that starts right after the game is supposed to end. They've backed themselves in to a corner and will most certainly piss someone off.

According to ESPN's Tony Kornheiser on yesterday's "PTI," the NHL game drew only 1.2 million viewers whereas the Preakness drew 3.5 million viewers.

It's all about the money and ratings, folks...sad commentary about the NHL.
