Icedogs / tornado

Icedogs and Tornado for the Robertson Cup. I wouldn't want it any other way. For me the anticipation began before the season even started at the Chowder Cup. I was hoping they would end up playing each other, just to see how we might match up once the regular season kicked off in September. Even after the first two losses to start the season, I felt there was hope for the season (remember, we didn't do so well the season before). We had played well against the best team in the league. Then in March we got to see first hand how they play hockey down south. First in Wichita Falls, then in Frisco. All four games had a playoff feel to them, unlike many we had played up until that point. Fast forward to the Robertson Cup and here we are. Has all the makings of a great game. Only wish I could be there...

How can TT play for the cup when they lost a game and S Minn didn't? I am not able to figure out the rankings. And Bozeman played one game less than S Minn.

Oops I see where TT & S Minn played again and TT won. I am still not seeing how S Minn isn't playing for the cup.

traveler - Texas beat Southern Minnesota yesterday afternoon to advance to the championship game. Texas and Southern Minn have identical 2-1 records in this tournament, and the goal differential was in favor of the Express. The two teams even split the "series" in this tournament, 1-1. But, with the screwy way the tournament was set up this year, the winner of both of yesterday's games face each other for the whole ball of wax tonight.

I agree with many of the other posters here, that five teams this year was one too many without expanding the tournament to give every team a shot to lose one game but still make it the whole way.


As for the Tornado, my best advice to them and Tony would be to not get down early today. The heroics and magic may be running out.


Just one other quick note, I think it's very cool that many of the fans of the other South division teams have made comments such as "keep the cup in the south where it belongs", etc. I know it's probably hard to say, especially when you wish that upon the team that has won it the last two years, but it's a great show of class (something not all fans or teams have) to be able to put season-long differences and feelings aside and say that.

Here's to the game tonight between the top two teams (at least record-wise) in the regular season this year!

Could it really be another way? After this season; there could not be a better Championship Game. These two teams are the best in the league.

I would bet a lot of money that Bozeman is going to win tonight.

Ummm...you did know that the Tornado were playing didn't you?

Go get 'em Nado. My personal opinion but, if I was the Nado I would not pick tonight to slow down with the game that got them here.
