Sounds like sour grapes to me. Since the Roadrunners are the "organization of the year" then why don't they step up to the plate and host it? I know it sucks not to know what its like not to be called a National Champ. Sorry Mary, Arch, and the rest of you Topeka whiners.

Oh yea, I think there is an effort to host the 2009-2010 Robertson Cup here. We shall see.

When we hosted the Gold Cup, back when the USHL and NAHL were slightly on equal footing...sorta...I thought we did an alright job but yeah, when the games weren't featuring the Blues -- it was less than stellar. And really, I'm not sure I'd expect any different. Two teams that have no affiliation to the home city? I wasn't surprised when no one came out to see the Green Bay Gamblers and the 'production' was next to nothing.

But games with the Blues in them, the effort of the staff was full out.

Wouldn't expect it to be any different anywhere else. Though kind of sad that St Louis didn't put force a stellar effort all the way around. I actually like their facilities.

Kind of sad that I didn't get the chance to go see the Bandits Runners game like I had planned. But Mason City should be a different story if the Blues get that far, I'll go.

St. Louis wasn't alone in hosting poorly organized national tournaments this year. The T3A tournament wasn't any better, nor was the ACHA D1 Nationals.

How is it sour grapes?

First off it's an opinion, you don't like it, GREAT!

Second it's was an observation of how things were run. Moe and Tornado, did you go? If not, then how can you comment.

Did I whine that the host cost the team a championship? Nope. If I had, then it would be sour grapes.

If we had won the Cup, I would have said the exact same things. Truth.

If everyone was ok with settling for sub-standard, then maybe this league is in trouble.

You wanna be big time, act like it.

Flame away, I don't care, you are entitled to your opinion.

Thanks for the hits!

No, I didn't go. But, I did speak with Arch and he expressed that he was impressed with the event the Bandits put on.

Maybe if the Runnerses had made a better showing at the tourney, you wouldn't be so bitter. But, knock yourself out.

McT, as someone who has lost not one But THREE hockey teams, I would think you would be a little more sympathetic to the Suckholes fans.

He was being an ass, and I responded in kind. I do sympathize with the Tornado fans but most aren't still trying to be assholes like Tornado STH was. I wonder if he's going to change his name to Tornado STH 2009-2010.

You have a reading comprehension issue, I would have wrote the same had they won.

The event was built up to be bigger than it turned out to be. I guess maybe I thought too much of the league.

My mistake, one I won't make again.

Again, it wasn't horrible or the worst I've been too, just not what I anticipated.

Take it or leave it, bitter...whatever.

OK, this is really going to endear myself to several of you.

I've had more than a few questions this season about the leadership, management, and marketing of the North American Hockey League. It has seemed to me that for a league that has been around since 1975, it seems to be lacking something in each of these categories.

That wouldn't necessarily be a surprise. The old IHL was around 50+ years, but bad management did it in.

I do have a question--or questions--that I would like to ask those who were in St. Louis. If you want to flame me, fine, but I would like a few serious answers.

If you did not know that the NAHL was having its Robertson Cup Tournament last week at the Iceplex and you walked into the lobby, what was really there--screaming, as it were--to tell you that the championship of the NAHL was at hand?

The question is not meant as a dig at the Iceplex or the Bandits organization. The NAHL is another story.

A major event in any organization should be a publicity bonanza. In this case, something good for the league. Something good for the host team, which should be using it as a chance to build its own fan base through the publicity.

So that gets us to question two: If the Bandits were using the tournament as a publicity event to build its own fan base, did they succeed? And if they weren't, why not?

As I said, I would really appreciate some serious answers. And I know the immediate one: no one in the league has Mark Cuban's billions.

I did not say that you had NO credibility. Wink If other people around here think you have none, that's their opinion.

I would expect the Falls (if they still exist Wink ) will make a bid to host the 2009-10 tourney, too.

getalife

i think it's a cry for sympathy that they didn't make it into the championship game. Waaa.

i thought that my bandits did a wonderful job. they don't have a huge staff for one and made the best of it.
i actually enjoyed it as well as the hubby and kiddo. there are always things that could go better im sure, but i'd like to see half of you put on the same tournament. its not as easy at it looks im sure.

good job to the tournament staff.

I don't have comprehension issue. You have your opinion and I have mine. If the Runnerses would have won this thing, you'd be singing a different tune. I'm sorry that the Bandits don't have the facilities that Topeka and Frisco have. I'm sure they did everything they could with what they have.

And, kudos to the Bandits' staff and tournament team. I'm sure Kim probably had to almost singlehandedly run this thing herself. She's a great girl and a hard worker and to disparage her and other's efforts in this tournament is a shame.

Now, why don't you run along and worry about getting back into the tournament next season.
