More thoughts.....

Come to think of it, no one with the organization ever approached me about signing up for next season. Was anyone else approached about purchasing season tickets for 08 - 09? That may be a clue that they knew all along what was going to happen.
On the flip side, they were asking season ticket holders to pre-pay $99.00 for playoff tickets with the balance being applied to next years tickets. I wonder how many people took them up on that offer???
Looks like those season ticket holders that opted to prepay that $99.00 for playoff tickets and have the balance of what's left applied to Season Tickets for 08 -09 better be finding out what's going to happen to their money!!
Good Bless you and your hubby Lady in Red. The first game Murph returned to Frisco with WF I was pleased to see he had found a job close by so fast and I was happy to tell him so in person.

Arena renovations.

I didn't realize that was the only rink in North Dallas/Frisco... seems to me they should have had the lead time to find an interim sheet of ice while the big barn was being re-strawed...

Tis true. Due to renovations to the Frisco rink they will be taking a year off. The reason why they simply cannot relocate to another rink in the DFW Metroplex is because there just isn't any ice available. All the ice for youth leagues, high school, figure skating, tournaments has been sold. NYTEX is marketing the Brahmas so they are not going to share their facility.

There are plenty of rinks in the Dallas area, but most will only hold about 400. Not enough to be profitable. NYTEX (Blue Line) is bigger, but they'd have to coordinate schedules with the Brahmas. I guess the Ft. Worth Convention Center is available. Irregardless, I don't think there's much chance of the Tornado not coming back in 09-10. But it will be mostly rookies, and probably even worse than this year's team.

you'd think with the TT connections they could have gotten the AA center. Lets see them fill that one up.

I really hate this if it is for real. I also hope they will return to Frisco the next year. I fear for our Wildcats if the TT do not return. As it has been said in the past as one goes so goes the other.

What about the NAHL? Are they moving, or staying in Frisco?

My thoughs on other rinks are this. If they find another sheet to play on, they still stand to loose a ton of money.

Most rinks will not hold the fans, so you loose revenue on tickets sold.

They AA center would hold fans, however would not work because all the advertising revenue is already sold, so the team would loose money that way as well. Plus I believe they would loose some of the fan following because of the drive distance to the AA center.

So this whole thing seems to me like it's financial. It's cheaper to go dormant for a year and then try and come back. I at least hope that's the case because the Tornado are an excellant organization and have a great facility to play in. I've been there 4 times this year, and all trips have been a blast.

Plus JWildcat does not have the same finese as JTornado.

Another thing to keep in mind is that this could be a move to get into the USHL. More seats in the areana, etc. A lot of rumors being kicked around. I feel bad for the Wildcats for this could put a big strain on them financially this coming season, and who knows what will happen because of it.

Highly unlikely that this renovation is in any way connected to anything other than improving the building.

The USHL has very little interest in the TT and has absolutely no interest in WF.

Could the CHL be a possibility?

I doubt it very seriously.....Unless the CHL wanted ANOTHER Texas team averaging below 3K a game....

Besides, why are they adding seats, when they can't fill the ones they have?

Its not about the team choosing to renovate its the city of Frisco who wants to be able to use it for concerts graduations etc

Not to mention in 2009 there will already be a team 12 miles away in Allen.

The expansion of capacity at Deja Blue has nothing to do with the Tornado and everything to do with that facility hosting a wider array of events. When you get up to 5,500 seats, which is the number I heard a few months back, you can start becoming an attractive venue for concerts. Also, with that area still growing explosively, there's not a lot of places that can host HS commencement ceremonies, which you can also cover at 5,500 capacity...
