Ice hockey in Allen and McKinney

In Allen Texas: Allen has been promised a CHL team. The Mayor of Allen disclosed this when the public approved the funds for this arena last year. Obviously the difference between promising and delivering is two different things. I drive near that arena every week day and then seem to be making great progress on it.
In McKinney Texas: On the local news this morning it was reported that the City of McKinney approved the public funds to build another Dr. Pepper Stars Center. It had been earlier reported in the news a week or so ago that the Deal is that the city builds it and the Hicks Group leases it back from them. However I have no idea it that was the way the deal ended up.
I'd be willing to lay better than even odds that the Tornado will find a way to move between now and the 09-10 season.
The Deja Blue Arena has a contract to provide a commencement service location for all four Frisco High Schools. From what I've heard the ice arenas here are packed full time so they should have no problem making use of the ice that is freed up with the Tornado departure. Sorry to say it, but it's almost a sure bet that they will move someplace like Round Rock or Austin. (My best guesstimate anyway) Kirby is not going to go to a small market. He's going to go someplace where he will have access to a decent size population to draw from. His ego is too large for a small town.

I was not trying to say that Horn had much to do with those teams, what I was trying to get acros is that Horn restarted the CHL by owning ALL of the teams. Brods, or the next mega millions winner, could effectively do the same thing.

If Global keeps with their precedent, the "promised" franchise was written into the contract (the one that says the city provides the funds while Global builds the arena and provide the team). This is how it's worked for the RGV, Arizona, Colorado, Rocky Mountain, and Youngstown arenas and franchises. Ever watch The Music Man? Same thing, only Rick Kozuback is Professor Harold Hill.

My understanding is the Brahmas have until next month to exercise their first right of refusal to relocate to relocate to Allen in 2009. If they decide to stay in North Richland Hills, the league will provide another team.
