DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White announced today that the Dallas Stars have recalled Iowa Stars goaltender Dan Ellis late this morning. As a result, the Stars have signed goalie Sebastien LaPlante to a Professional Tryout Contract (PTO).

Funny how nothing is on the Thunder website.

SO what exactly is a professional tryout contract? Does that mean he gets one game to see how he does or what. Funny thing...he is called up by Iowa a Dallas Stars affiliate<SP>. First they steal a coach ...now a goalie. This sucks. Volp has looked pretty good the last couple games....and just remember not to many were that impressed with flicker this time last year.

Good luck LaPlante, hurry back!! So whom is our emergency backup goalie?

Okay, I don't get it.

Laxdal went to Idaho because the ECHL was a better league, and they had a direct affiliation with Iowa and Dallas. They seem to have two really good goalies there in Idaho. Instead of calling one of theirs up, they sign Laplante from Wichita. It makes me wonder if they just need a goalie to sit on the bench for a game, and rather than mess up the roster in Idaho they signed someone from outside the organization for a game.

Perhaps there is an injury in Idaho...

Don't get me wrong, it is a great opportunity for Laplante, he deserves it and I wish him luck.

There have been an incredible amount of goalie injuries this year...Especially in the AHL and NHL....You should be happy for him...Whoever you local stand-out men's leaguer is could be your back-up.....Volp will have to carry the load until Laplante is back....

Are you the only one with access to the site? Surely one of the interns you have could posted something. Hell, even copy what was on the Iowa site, for that matter. It's a shame that the fans have to find out through Pointstreak, or another team's site, before the home team's website.

When did their release go out? Obviously before 2pm by the looks of the start of the thread.

I know he will be back tommorrow but I hope he gets to play up there and I hope he really shines if he does play. He deserves a shot.

Well then, how did Pointstreak get ahold of this info? Apparently someone there is on the ball, eventhough it's a holiday. What about Iowa? They sure put out this info in a "timely" manner. I complain about this because this isn't the first time Thunder fans had to find out stuff about their team through another source. And it's crap like this that ticks alot of us off at the front office. Yes, you deserve a weekend off, but when possible team altering events come up, someone should make and effort to get this kind of info out to the fans, before another source breaks it. How would like to know the team was going out of business through the Indianapolis Star (this is all hypothetical before anyone jumps to conclusions)? You wouldn't like someone else knowing something before you did, would you?

In the long run, it's pointless since he's going to be back. But that info had to come from one of the booster club members, before the front office. I'm guessing you thought noone would ahve noticed this, and he would have been back before anyone realized this happened. But there are a few on here that pay close attention to the actions of the players, and notice this stuff pretty damn quick. And they shouldn't have to go through another source to get info on their favorite players. And that's what this rant is all about.

Some people actually have things to do, they just don't sit around and read this board.

It isn't about these boards... obviously you typed without actually reading anything yourself. The Thunder site had no mention of this, but yet Pointreak.com did as did the Iowa website.

BT, yopu should move to BS because you will never be happy with anything anybody does and that is where the whinners and complainers move to. I'll help pay for the move.We could win the championship, go undeafeted, sweep the playoffs, have the best defense and offense in the league and you would bitch about something not being posted on the website on a day it's closed. Give them a break, they are doing a great job and spending time with their families and that is FAR more important then Thunder hockey, and if you think it isn't then you have lost sight of the good things in life.It really has no effect on the team except he will be out of town for 2 days and if he plays and plays well he COULD get called up. Thoses are alot of if's to get your shorts in a bunch.

So did LaPlante do this on his own or did the Thunder office ok it prior to his signing?

You know what sheep, I'd try to explain business 101 to you, in simple terms, but I think a trash can would get it before you would. Maybe it's time to "turn the other cheek" to this board as well, since you can't seem to follow along, what's being posted. Why you haven't retreated to the pussy Thunder board, by now, is beyond me.
