Laraque to Penguins

It looks like the Penguins have acquired one of my favorite enforcers Georges Laraque from the Phoenix Coyotes. http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app?articleid=289737&page=NewsPage&service=page

When I heard it finally went through, I proceeded to do a combination of the funky chicken, the safety dance, and Snoopy's dance from A Charlie Brown Christmas for about two hours straight.

I sent BGL a "Welcome to the Pens" e-mail and reminded him that Brashear is on the schedule for March 27.

I think GL is the best heavyweight in the league. I'm glad the pens made this move.

Definetly a smart move on the Pens part.

He has not really fought that much lately. I wonder why?

It's all about the fear factor. No one in the league wants to fight him, and he's never been one to go out of his way to look for one, similar to Tony Twist's last few seasons.

A good enforcer might not get 50 fighting majors a season, but he acts as a deterrent on cheap shots and rough play. Just look at Clark Gillies as another example-- one of the best fighters ever, yet never had a season over 100 PIM.

This trade is going to open up so much room for Sidney and all of there skilled forwards and defenceman for that matter, adn you can already see it in there games the amount of room that Laraque already opens up

Maybe Laraque is the piece to the Penguins making it far in the playoffs giving guys like Crosby, Malkin. Staal, and Recchi, scoring opportunities it would not suprise me at all to see this team playing in June possibly.
