Yes, because a goalie can have his entire career defined by one game.

I didn't say anything about his entire career or just 1 game. I said he isn't living up to the big contract he just signed. In the last 5 games since signing it, he was pulled in 2 of them. He gave up 3 goals on 10 shots, 3 goals on 13 shots, and 4 goals on 15 shots. Thats not counting the 3 goals on 7 shots earlier this year. You can get an CHL or AHL goalie to come in and do a better performance for a whole lot less money.

Everyone has their down times.
Marty will get better - I can feel it. The only time I get really concerned about Turco is during playoffs. That is when he has the biggest trouble.

Considering Billy just went through a slump and Marty is struggling with consistancy issues, the Stars are still doing rather well in the standings. There is still quite a bit of hockey left to be played, but I am feeling rather good with what is going on so far.

Zany,

Agreed on Marty...he plays his ass off during the regular season and then for some reason, his quality of play sinks in the playoffs...kinda like a QB in Indianapolis (did I say that??)

He will get better as will the team around him. Hell, I'll take a 4 point lead over LA right now, cuz it won't get any easier after the Olympic break. Stars stumbled a bit in Montreal the other night, but it sounded to me like the D in front of Turco didn't wake up until the second period started. Just my My 2 Cents

Thrashers tonight...I'll be listening on the internet as usual.

GO STARS!

Marty is getting lit up pretty good tonight. He's given up four goals on only seven shots against the Lightning.

Another fine performance tonight by Turco. His save percentage and goals against have taken a real beating since the big contract.

He was reported to have "the flu" about a month ago. He hasn't played up to his level since. He's probably not feeling well - there's a viral bug out there that hangs on (a friend of mine has had it since October & can't shake it). I hope Marty doesn't have THAT!

IMO, his defense should be helping him out more if he's not feeling well. He gave his d-men plenty of public credit early in the season for his success - they need to remember that & help out.

You can blame the defense all you want, but in 4 games he has given up 14 goals on 35 shots. That is not the defenses fault. In the Montreal game, he only faced 15 shots while allowing 4 goals for the whole game. If you only face 15 shots, I would say the defense in front of you is doing there job. I bet Luongo or Kolzig would love to have a game where they only faced 15 shots.

I'm a big Turco fan( as Wrench well knows) and as much as it kills me, I gotta agree with him on this one. Wink WHATEVER the reason, Turco just ain't gettin' it done. If he is insisting on playing even though he knows he's not 100% then he's doing his team a disservice.

We've been pretty blessed so far this season and this recent skid has many Stars fans (including me) freaking out.
I just have to have faith that this weekend, they will be able to somehow get back to basics, break down the issues at hand, and build it back up the right way.

Marty needs to take some time off, get his bearings set, and then get back after it!

While I'm concerned about this 3 game losing streak, please note that those losses were all against Eastern Conference teams. Dallas finishes up 6-4 against the Eastern Conference. Not too shabby.

I think Turco needs to rest for remainder of this month, altho we have a nasty schedule coming up...the 'Yotes & Bloose at home, Avs in Denver and then a regional TV home game against Detroit. Watching the Wings play yesterday against the Avs impressed me A LOT! There's a good reason why they're in first place in the West, and Dallas has shown that they don't play well at home for some reason. Sad

I am confident that the Stars will break out of their current slump and when all the dust settles, they'll be first in the Pacific and 2nd overall in the West...gotta give props to Detroit...altho it pains me to do so.

GO STARS!

Stars are slumping, LA Kings should be able to move into first.

YOU SUCK!!!!!!!!

Actually he is a good goalie and as much as he makes me mad as a Predators fan sometimes, I have to like his fire. Earlier this year he absolutly stole a game from the Preds.

Even with the Stars slumping, you are 1 point behind and have played 3 more games than the Stars. Kings are not going to move into 1st place anytime soon.

Ahhhh! Jammin Yes...that's better...Turco lets in a first period WTF type of goal, team rallies around him w/solid defense limiting the Desert Dogs to only 17 shots, Brendan Morrow gets a GHHT and the Stars break their 3-game losing streak.

Tough games against St. Louis, Colorado and Detroit loom on the horizon.

St. Louis tough? Don't think so. We will see how Mr. Turco performs against some good teams. What is his record against the Red Wings? Not very impressive.
