w has been the president for 7 years. we are in a useless war fighting "muslims". oil is at $175 a barrel. the supreme court is now an arm of the religious right. rich people are getting tax breaks and poor people are getting cuts in services. i would hope the so-called "conservatives" are happy. as far as the neocons, they are pretty much a bunch of disgruntled former liberals and will never be truly happy until we bomb vietnam back to the stone age and make the knesset the ruling body for all of the middleast.

Not likely... Have you seen who the options are? I have a feeling none of the three stooges are going to be all that great.

Your true colors come out. I believe it was Walter Williams who said this country will never reach it's full potential as long as we keep taking from the productive and giving it to the nonproductive.

"all that great" is relative. relative to w, they are all "great".

ah, another of the great american myths: the one about how poor people aren't productive and that only rich people contribute to our society. and brought to us by one of the great american myth spewers - walter williams - no less.

Just out of curiosity, how much does a person have to make a year for you to call them rich and that they aren't paying thier share?

depends on how you calculate "your share". you must have a different way of figuring than the gov't. so do i. i figure that the people who are benefitting the most from the system should contribute the most to it. and visa versa. of course i know there are some people who think it should be the exact opposite *w*.

I don't mind paying more than the guy who makes $25,000 a year. I just dont think I should have to pay 10 to 15 times more.

i'm not up on the tax rates, but mine don't seem too bad for the priveledge of living in the greatest country in the world, getting the services i get and having the opportunities i've had. i guess maybe you've had it harder and haven't been treated as well by america as i have. then again, if your taxes are that high you must be doing pretty good on the financial front. oh well, there's always somebody who wants more for less. it's the american way (the wanting, not necessarily the getting).

If you make more money than your neighbor, do you think you should have to pay more for your beer and gas?

Yep, the democrats will try to "rebuild" America, by dismanteling the military. Hil. will pick up RIGHT where Bubba left off, cutting re-enlistment bonus', suspending the GI bill, and if you're a Vet forget the VA, they wont be able to treat a common cold.

Everybody wants to "rebuild" America but no one seems to remember the principals this country was built on in the fist place, and the price that was paid FOR IT......

i don't think you are right. i think some one remembers, but i don't think we can tell who because of all the politicians' lies.
i agree that re-enlistment bonus' were much lower under the dems. when we didn't need a big military (because we weren't fighting a stupid, wasteful war) we didn't need large re-enlistment bonuses. the reason they were raised was to provide more fodder for w's insane war. they will go up or down depending solely on the need for fodder, irrespective of which party is in office.
as far as the v.a. i get pretty good treatment from them and did during bill's presidency. i dislike the fact that, when i joined the military, i was told i would get v.a. medical for life, but now they have lots of limitations and eligibility requirements for veterans. like i said, they do (or at least say they will do) a lot more when they need the fodder.
it is difficult to have any frills or maintain infrastructure in any part of our great nation when everyone wants their taxes lowered, wants the gov't to constantly cut back on everything and while we are wasting trillions of $'s on an unecessary war (not to mention all the wasted lives).
who knows, maybe the new guy can turn things around (you are in luck - i don't think hill is going to make it this time).
