Thank goodness for Netminder - for a moment I thought we had moved to "perfect" - but in reality - we live at Walgrens. Thanks for the reality check!

Yes lets indeed get the facts straight, Bruce Zoldan told the Nahl some 10-11 months ago that he secured the Chev centre for the tournament....LIE....

You're wrong. The Phantoms proposed the Ice Zone to the league with additional seating. Coach Mainhardt said on the radio recently that if you request it, the Phantoms will provide anyone with a copy of the original proposal given to the league. You should also refer to the NAHL's Q & A guide regarding the announcement of the National Tournament.

Quote:
Then he told them(Nahl) he was waiting till the Chev Centre opened to negotiate the details.......LIE.......The chev opened in October yet Zoldan didnt approach till January.]

I have never seen or heard any mention that he would start negotiating in October. Please cite a source. Also consider that the Centre went weeks without management after Jeff Kossow left as the center's manager.

Quote:
Then after repeatedly trying to go around Washington to make a "deal" he finally approached Washington in Feb. 2006 even though he LIED and told The Nahl that he had these talks with Washington months ago...LIE.]

Again, I've not seen Zoldan making that claim. As it is, what's the difference? Herb would have used the same reasoning (possible playoff conflicts) in October as he did, again, THREE WEEKS after the original proposal was approved.

Quote:
The list goes on and on...the point being its Zoldan and the Nahl job to worry about their tournament not Washington who has no affilation to either..my take is poor business deal by Zoldan get over it and let the tourney go to a more responsible owner with proper facilities that will treat this tournament with the respect that Zoldan laked.

I agree that the Ice Zone isn't adequate in it's current state. That's why they're adding seats. But the big question, though it's lost its luster, is why won't Washington allow the tournament now that there is no possible conflict? What's your suggestion?

Well I was one of the tax payers and I dont mind. Thats what your missing the people of Youngstown are behind Herb not Zoldan. I'm just happy the ice zone didnt cost me tax payer cash seeing its in Boardman....

First of all, you were a tax payer, so that speaks volumes about your now lack of support for the city of Youngstown.

Secondly, if I'm not mistaken, Zoldan has had his Phantom Fireworks company in downtown Youngstown for, what, 30 years? That's alot of income tax dollars he's contributed to the city of Youngstown, not to mention that the city has the highest income tax rate in the state (I think it's 2.75%.)

Thirdly, you should be thankful that no one pays taxes on the Ice Zone except for Zoldan since he owns it!

Again, I'm a big supporter of the Phantoms. But still, I've yet to find Zoldan at fault for this. The only reason the Ice Zone is adding seats now, as far as I can see, is because Herb is acting childish.

Think about it. The CHL commissioner would have supported Herb's reasoning when his team HAD a chance at the playoffs. Now that he can't make the playoffs, and since the CHL is owned by the arena's management company, Global, how do you think the powers that be from the CHL and Global feel about Herb right about now?

Do you think now he's going to get more weekend home dates next year after this fiasco? I especially recall the Vindicator quoting him about weekend dates as a key for his team next season. When did he say that? In January at their press conference with the Phantoms when they announced the Phantoms/Steelhounds doubleheader.

Whats funny to me is you guys can only piss and moan instead of getting over it. The decisions be made, so I guess all thats left to be said is "Bruce get to adding seats." Which I might add I went to the ice zone today, I see no new seats nor do I see where he could even add 400 like he claims. Maybe hes just bringing in folding chairs.......

I'll get over it when Herb grows some nuggets, quits acting like a spoiled little school girl and does the right thing by unlocking the doors to the Chevrolet Centre. Regardless weather Zoldan, the NAHL, Global or any one else did Herb wrong in all this, Herb needs to say "I'm a bigger man" stop pouting and let the kids play.

Have been sitting in folding chairs in Texarkana for 5 years and probably will be sitting in them after the steelhounds fold.
Don't excuse the pun.

I don't see where it matters what kind of seat the ass fills, as long as it's PAID for.

Herb Washington (who denied the NAHL the use of the Chevrolet Center for the National Tournament) is not the only member of the Steelhounds organization that has displayed true class this season.

This was in the Dallas Morning News today.

Quote:
Big Mac Attack

Leading 5-2 with 44 seconds left against the Fort Worth Brahmas last week, J.F. Laforest pulled his goalie and put in another Youngstown attacker. Here's why: He wanted to feed his fans Big Macs. A promotion promised free burgers to every fan if the Steelhounds scored six goals. But pulling the goalie? "Humiliating," said Guy Larose, the Brahmas coach. Laforest told reporters: "I'd do it again until the cows come home." Only if they're wrapped in buns, apparently.

Real classy organization you are running there Herby.

And this from the Fort Worth Star Telegram

Quote:
Angry Brahmas say late-game antics in bad taste
By ERIC HAMILTON Special to the Star-Telegram

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Apparently hockey fans in Youngstown don't get much to eat. So, Steelhounds coach J.F. Laforest decided to do his best to change that.

With his team ahead of the Fort Worth Brahmas 5-2 with 44 seconds left in the third period, Laforest pulled goalie Simon St. Pierre and replaced him with a scorer in an attempt to tally a sixth goal.

The Steelhounds were running a promotion that stipulated if the home team scored six goals each fan in attendance would get a free Big Mac. With that in mind, Laforest went for it.

But Brahmas coach Guy Larose didn't buy it.

"It's humiliating to have them pull their goalie when the game was already over," said Larose. "It's an unwritten rule in hockey that you just don't do that. There was no need for that. I don't know why they did it; I'm not their coach. But it kind of hit our pride there at the end."

Youngstown couldn't convert the sixth tally, but the fans and the Steelhounds (22-35-5) still went home happy with a 5-2 victory Wednesday night.

Laforest defended his decision to pull his netminder in the game's final seconds.

"Hey, if we score a sixth goal it adds to the tally and the fans go home happy," he said. "You always try to score as much as you can and when one of our corporate sponsors is running a promotion we try to help. I'd do it again until the cows come home."

A strong second period from the last-place Brahmas (17-37-8) wasn't enough to overcome a stellar performance by Youngstown center Chris Richards, who scored his first hat trick, and Jeff Christian, who added a goal and three assists.

Jimmy Sokol had a goal and an assist and Ty Hennes added a goal for the Brahmas.

YOUNGSTOWN 5, BRAHMAS 2

Reasons why Wichita Falls probably will NOT host a National-- excuse me Robertson cup tournament: 1. cost 2. cost 3. cost. The host city is reponsible for the transportation costs for the teams and may be (I'm not sure about this) responsible for motel and meal costs as well. YEah I think it would be good and would ultimately bring in revenue but I can't see the people of Wichita Falls coming up with the money to sponser the thing.

Bussey, you're hurting my heart! You think our city is CHEAP? Laughing What about Kay Y? We can count on her. We should hold a jersey auction for the playoffs. Maybe the city would match funds...
