Nope. Last I saw he was still trying to muck up hockey in the North East.

Sorry, but the SEHL is not a gong show league.

Mainly because the SEHL went out of business several years ago.

It changed to the SPHL and isn't really that bad. They have cities that had ECHL/CHL teams in the past. A few are drawing 3-4 thousand a game. With a low salary cap and limited footprint for travel it lets teams servive.

Fred,
Tell the story correctly. Teams from the SEHL merged with those from the WHA2 to form the SPHL.

And, business model let's them survive? Tell that to the people in Jacksonville. They lost scads of money playing in a 16,000+ seat building and moved to a rec rink seating less than 2,000 where, despite near-capacity crowds this season, have lots scads more money and the announcement that the team is folding is expected to come any day.

And the Twin City Cyclones, while having already announced plans to play in '08-'09, are a one skate on the banana peel and the other in the grave team. If things don't improve significantly this coming season, they will likely be done as well.

During the '07-'08 season, 5 of the 7 SPHL teams averaged in excess of 3,000 per game. Twin City and Jacksonville both averaged under 2,000. No team averaged 4,000. The closest was Fayettville at 3,931.

Try to have some knowledge and understanding of a subject before you comment on it, will ya please?

Read what I said retard. I said a few are averaging between 3 and 4 thousand. Columbus, Huntsville, Knoxville, Richmond and Fayettville have all had ECHL and or CHL teams that have not been able to survive and seem to be doing well in the SPHL. Twin Cities/ Winston Salem has been at the bottom of the attendance numbers in every league they have tried since I started following minor league hockey in the early 90's. So I agree maybe it is time to give up on that place. My guess is Jacksonvilles owner is in the same position that the SEHL owner was in Huntsville a few years ago. (whoever makes the decsions for the arena doesn't want him and or the league he has a team in)
