In some hockeygeek circles there are some owners considered to be "Angels of Death." These typically are guys who have owned more than one team that he's run into the ground.
There's others... Afr, Prue, Cusack, Elmore, Cadrin, Gagnon, Davidson... I just grabbed a few.
ObTucson: Joe Milano was awarded a WPHL team in Tucson, the Scorch. Here's an article about what happened (league revoked day before start of season), and how the UHL didn't learn the lesson (gave a team to Milano for Columbus, OH that folded in middle of first season).

Marc,
How can you forget Barath. Texarkana Bandits and he also had something to do with the Scorch, or was it the Gila Monsters?
Needless to say, he is not fondly considered.
My record is not perfect, but, junior hockey has been active in Alaska without a dark season since 1995-96 Season when we played a complete season against the men's league teams. (also got a bit of hardware for our efforts). I had a small part in getting that going.
Despite my best efforts, Junior Hockey is still being played in Florida. First was the SEHL and then the Jr C league. But the level of play has been going since we brought it there in 1998. I organized the SEHL, then quickly slipped away.
The Bandits recovered from the Barath reign and played five seasons after being reorganized. I played another bit part in that effort.
All of the above, people will claim success despite my efforts. That's ok, I can live with that. Maybe after I die, the efforts will be more appreciated. Needless to say, there will never be a "Heisler Cup" other then the one that may be used to protect the jewels.
I really am getting itchy to do something again.
