RAPID CITY RUSH MAKES SPLASH SIGNING CHL ALL-STAR GOALIE
Rush adds former Austin Ice Bats goaltender Miguel Beaudry to their goal-tending tandem

Beaudry has played in the Central Hockey League for five years starting his professional career with the New Mexico Scorpions in 2003, and most recently having played for the Austin Ice Bats.

Beaudry has played in 208 games throughout his CHL career and has earned a career saves percentage of 0.914. This puts him as one of the top three in this category.

“We are extremely excited and feel we have a huge key to our hockey team with the signing of Miguel Beaudry,” said Rush Head Coach Joe Ferras. “Miguel has been one of the top goalies in the Central Hockey League for five seasons and will be relied on heavily.”

Beaudry led all CHL goaltenders by being recognized on four occasions as the Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week and on three occasions was runner-up for the Sher-Wood Goaltender of the Month award.

“The biggest reason I opted to join Rapid City Rush were Joe Ferras and Jason Rent. When I saw them at the helm I knew this was going to be a first-class hockey club,” said Beaudry. “I chose Rapid City because of their track records both as coaches and General Managers and know it will be a great place to continue my pro career. I am very excited to get down to Rapid City.”

During the regular season, Beaudry ranked 4th in the CHL with a .920 save percentage, 6th with a 2.68 goals against average and 2nd with six shootout wins.

Over the second half of the season, Beaudry posted a 17-5-1 record leading Austin to their first post-season berth in five seasons.

“The signing of Miguel gives our franchise instant credibility, and knowing him personally he is not only a great goaltender but a great person and will be an instant fan favorite with the Rapid City fans,” said Rush Coach Ferras. “He competes every night hard and will give us a chance to win many hockey games.”

He sucked when he played for New Mexico. I remember when the Thunder shelled him by scoring like 8 goals on him twice in one year.

Has he ever lost a game to Wichita? Sounds like he's an allstar every time he plays the Thunder, but then that can be said for quite a few goalies.

If y'all play SoDak 10 times next season. that sounds like 10 guaranteed wins for Beauds.

You can't argue with his stats in Austin with shitty teams the past three years.

2006-07 39 games 3.00 GAA 0.911 save%
2007-08 43 games 2.68 GAA 0.920 save%

Yeah the south was weak, but we played Laredo like a zillion times. And this was with him battling with this shit of Houston sending us goalies they didn't want that we had to play. Once that was done and he started playing full-time, his numbers only got better.

Tetrault was a very good player at one point in time. His recent selection to the all-star game was nothing more than a mercy pick.

That wasn't the case with Beaudry. You're comparing apples and oranges in this case.

Seriously, I'm not going to get into it with you. The joke about the All-Star game was a dig at Tetrault, not Beaudry.

No, I do not think Beaudry is as good as this article says he is. But that is my opinion. Yes, as I have pointed out, he has lost games to Wichita. In fact, he pretty much shit the bed in those losses.

Tetrault as a mercy pick? The All-Star game shouldn't be a game for has-beens, it should be a showcase for the actual talent in the league which does not include Daniel Tetrault.

I'm pretty sure the Wichita fans are really looking forward to playing him a lot this year. History has shown that he doesn't fair too well in the big brown barn.
