Speaking of opposing players being included in the 3 Stars

It was mentioned in another thread and thought folks might find this interesting.

Texas has beaten the Bandits 1 time in Texarkana this season. Click the link below and scroll to the bottom for the 3 Stars of the Game.

The Tornado have lost 2 games at home this year, both to the Bandits. Click the links below to view the 3 Stars of the Game for those games.

To me, that says volumes about the organizations.

3 stars

I am a Tornado fan, obviously by the name, but good point, nice job, and good research. Don't know what it says about the orgs, but can't argue much w/ proof. Go 'Nados

Great point, 1CP. I'd like to see how Cheeks would spin this.

Interesting point. So do they not name stars of the game when they lose? I've heard the Bandits name several opposing teams' players when they lose.

I've been to a good number of Nado/Bandito games in Frisco. Never heard them name anyone other than nados. Even when Riley stopped tons of shots but we lost. Just their way of doing things, I guess.

I think someone asked this question before, but who actually picks the three stars? Surely its not the announcer. Maybe off-ice officials, scorekeeper, or winning coach? (Just kidding)

As far as the Wildcats go, I believe that the stars of the game are chosen by the radio announcers.

Actually, no they do not pick the stars of the game... trust me. Although it would be nice if they would get to pick 'em...

It looks like to me, whoever DOES pick them wants to remain anonymous 'cause I have never heard of anyone taking credit for it. But if it is the announcer, then it would make sense that no one but a Nado would ever get a star at Frisco.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think NHL teams *announce* the three stars of the game when they lose home games, but there are the three stars.

When I go up to St. Louis to see the Stars on the 26th, I'll let you know. haha. Wink

Your point being.....? I don't think we are talking about the NHL. All of this was in response to somebody bitching that after the last game in Wichita Falls with Frisco we only named one Frisco player star of the game. Right outloud before God and everybody BTW.

I don't see what your point is with your attitude on here.

I was just saying that the Tornado are probably modeling themselves after the NHL system of naming the three stars at a home win. So sorry I need to spell everything out for you people.

If it makes you feel better that for some reason WF names two cats players and deigns to name one away player when they lose, then more power to you. Including one player who didn't even play after the first period? That's money right there.

My neighbor is head of security at AAC. They do announce the 3 stars... and every time I read (and I can) the Star's box scores...they have the 3 stars listed no matter win/loss, home/visitor. I have seen several times where the 3 stars of the game were all opposing players. Hayz, I am a TT fan too...but can't back you here.

Maybe I'm just too distracted to hear them, but I've never heard the three stars announced at a Stars loss. I know that they have them, but I've never heard it.

My mistake.

One way or another, win or lose, 3 stars should be selected. Having said that, the selections should be fair and based on individual game performance - regardless of team. If the away team deserves 1st, 2nd, 3rd star, or any combo of that, then they should garner the stars.

My 2 Cents

I agree. I think there should be three stars at the Tornado games and I think it would be great to announce them for the visiting fans (or for anyone who wants to know) I just thought that there might be an explanation for it, but evidently there isn't.

Seeing as I don't know who chooses the three stars for the Tornado, I don't know who to approach about this. I would suspect/assume an office official for the NAHL chooses the three stars since it's an official statistic, but then again, it could be someone within the organization. I have no idea.

Office officials are easy to talk to. They're all very nice and willing to answer questions.
