BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads, ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Dallas Stars and the AHL’s Iowa Stars, announced today that team captain, D’Arcy McConvey, has been recalled to Iowa, effective immediately. McConvey is under contract with Iowa, but was reassigned to Idaho on October 5th, 2005.

McConvey, currently leading the ECHL in scoring with 86 points (39g-47a), will miss the Steelheads final regular season game tomorrow night in San Diego. The 24-year-old center has 24 points in his last 11 games including two hat tricks.

Derek Laxdal, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, said today from San Diego, “This is a well-deserved call up for D’Arcy. It also shows a lot of faith in D’Arcy’s abilities for Iowa to bring him into a pressure situation as they fight for the final playoff spot in their division.”

The Stars are currently tied with the Omaha Knights for 4th place (80 pts) in the AHL West Division. Iowa has seven games remaining, while Omaha has eight. The two teams go head-to-head in Omaha Friday night.

The 5-10, 195-pound McConvey played his rookie pro season last year with the ECHL’s Columbia Inferno and posted 54 points (23g-31a) in 60 games. Prior to Columbia, he played four years with Bowling Green State University where he tallied 31 goals and 71 assists (102 points) in 153 games.

He has been named the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week (March 13-19) and was named a starter on the ECHL’s National Conference All Star Team. McConvey also received recognition from his teammates this season when they voted him Most Valuable Player.

This call up to Iowa is the fourth this season for the Richmond Hill, Ontario native.
