Strength of Schedule

I have calculated the strength of schedule for each team based on the percentage of games played against teams above .500. In other word the percentage of games palyed against teams with a winning record.

On a divisional basis

South - 75.6% of games against opponents above .500
North - 61.5%
Central - 58.8%
West - 45.3%

On a team by team basis

Texas - 85.7% of games against opponents above .500
Spring - 85.7%
Santa Fe - 77.3%
N Iowa - 72.4%
T City - 70.4%
Bismark - 69.2%
W Falls - 66.7%
Alpena - 64.3%
Cleveland - 62.5%
Texarkana - 61.5%
USNTDP - 58.6%
Fargo - 55.6%
S. Minn - 55.6%
Mahoning - 51.9%
Helena - 51.7%
Bozeman - 50.0%
Wasilla - 48.5%
Billings - 46.7%
Minnesota - 40.7%
Fairbanks - 33.3%

Looking at this gives the standings a whole new perspective.

For instance, where would Santa Fe be if they had not played the 3rd toughest schedule in the league? Same for N. Iowa with the 4th toughest schedule.

Where would Bozeman or Fairbanks be if they had something a little tougher than 16th and 20th?

In the North the #1 USNTDP has the second weakest schedule in the division while #4 T. City and #5 Alpena have the two strongest.

Same for the Central #1 Fargo has the second weakest while #5 N. Iowa and #4 Bismark have the two strongest.

In the West #1 Bozeman has the second toughest schedule while #5 Helena has the strongest. Of course this is a division in which only one team Helena, has played more than 50% of their games against opponents above .500.

In the South #1 Texas and #4 Springfield share the strongest schedule while #5 Santa Fe has the third toughest schedule. The South is the only division in which every team has played more than 60% of their games against opponents above .500

This is a crock of IceLane

Why do all you people in the South spend all your time trying to convince everyone that you have the best of the NAHL. Get over it what the hell does anyone in Texas know about hockey? if it wern't for the players you import from up north your teams would suck worse than they already do.

Who cares about strength of schedule? Bozeman would still be leading their division no matter who was on their schedule.

Must be why Texas has the more Hockey teams...amateur and pro...then Canada.

Yeah,

Well look at the standings. Who is it leading the league in Points with only 26 games? All the other division leaders have played more games and none of their sorry Moon have as many points.

No, off the rocker has it right. The point of my ranking the strength of shedule was partially to point out that the South does indeed play the tougher schedule. Which is why the road to the cup runs through the Great State of Texas again this year.

If while proving the fact that the South plays the much tougher schedule, I step on the toes of some of our Yankee friends well so be it. That's the way the puck bounces I guess.
