SAN FRANCISCO (Associated Press) -- In a monumental victory for the gay rights movement, the California Supreme Court overturned a voter-approved ban on gay marriage Thursday in a ruling that would allow same-sex couples in the nation's biggest state to tie the knot. How can forcing the majority of Californians that voted against it, be getting it right? So much for the sanctity of marriage out there. Well at least the other states won't have to recognize their marriage. The only people happy about this are the gays and the Attorneys out there in California that will represent them in their divorces. If you think their Courts are crowded now wait until they allow the gays to get married.

I am not gay and I am happy about this.

sanctity of marriage, my ass. 1/2 of them end in divorce and most of those are bitter, acrimonious slugfests between 2 people who once professed to love each other 'til death parted them. never mind the way they torture their kids with the "custody" proceedings.
as far as the "majority rule" arguement, if we used that standard we would've had slavery for an extra hundred years and possibly would still have seperate and unequal schools yet today (i know you would approve of both those things, right).
as far as who is happy about it, i think these guys are.

Kind of insulting don't ya think when two lesbians or gay guys can live together for 25 years, raise children together and be model citizens and not have the same rights as two 18 year old immature kids who have no clue about life but decide to tie the knot.

The other thing I don't get about people who are against gay marriage is How in the heck does it affect their day to day life if two gays get married in California? Answer is: IT DOESN'T!

i'm beginning to believe that the homophobes don't want gay marriage because they are afraid those marriages will actually work out better than hetro marriages do. i mean, it will look very bad if, after 10 years or so, the gays and lesbians are staying married way more than straight people. either than or they are they're afraid if women can marry lesbians it won't be long before no man will be able to find a wife.

I know... right now... 6 gay couples who have been together for 20+ years. It *can* happen.

Why would I care if two hairy butt pokers get married? It's the hairy butt poking that is wrong. Getting married doesn't change that. I just don't want to be made to rent to them.
