tornado season ticket holders

just wondering if any of you guy have been notified of the break next season if it is true then

i for one am a little miffed about the fact that they dont let us know i mean they have no problem calling every single one of trying to push extras like playoff and banquet tickets and gold club memberships ect

now it is their team and they can do what they want and i would 100% support them when/if they came back if they did not keep me in the dark

i still have a unused playoff ticket that is supposed to go towards my next years season tickets the biggest thing they could do to keep me on board when/if they return is to let me know what going on and/or pay me for my un used ticket

i would have bought tickets one game at a time if i thought this would happen

but for a team that just up and blew off and got rid of all the coaching and office staff that they did last year i guess anything is possible

leads me to believe that they have no intentions of returning because if it was me i would be doing everything to assure all involved that all is ok and they will be back

we will have to wait and see how it plays out but im not sure how i feel about all this keep me in the dark stuff and i have been waiting for them to do the right thing but i will call them today if i can ge tthrough

I sure bet your team wished they had the sucess of that "broken down team"....

The truth is, yall never will.....

You went after their coaches, landed an assistant, and could not even keep him there....

you know its not even about the ticket/money because what was it like 7 bucks or something like that so if i bought them for that amount of money i got them pretty cheap

but it is about the principal of it and them doing the right thing now i know its a business and i am just a number but if i feel they dont stand by what they say do i really want to be a part of them if they do return

so like i said the jury is still out and we will see how it all pays out

This was a decent enough topic, that started to get sidetracked with the typical fighting and name calling that goes on around here. I split off the personal attacks into another thread, so that hopefully this topic can stay on track.

As for the team waiting for an official announcement, I can certainly see the desire to wait until after the league meetings to speak publicly on this. However, once the information came out in full force, I'm not sure it would have hurt the team to at least issue a general statement that plans for next year are not certain at this point, but that it should be decided soon and the team will be certain to make sure any fans that had season ticket deposits get their money back in the event next year does not happen (or something like that). They may not have wanted to let the cat out of the bag until it was official, but once the cat is out, it generally does not work to sit around and pretend like it is still in there. All that does is cause people to start wondering out loud which leads to rumors and further damage.

I shot Matt an email and he called me today, too. Same message, waiting on the league, next year off, back the year after, will be calling and writing season ticket holders soon.

Matt's a good guy and I guarantee has the fan's best interest in mind. This is not his fault at all. I really feel sorry for the guy for all the crap he has had to take over the last year from "fans" that don't understand sports, business, things like coaching changes happen, and that yes, sometimes teams don't win it all every year. I also feel for the dude when he has to try to earn back the Season Ticket Holder's trust if they do come back next year.

JT, some will come back. but as you said, when a fan gets screwed and even worse when a sponser gets screwed, you loose some. We went through that in the falls after the Rustlers owner went under. He left bills unpaid, and took money from the Rustlers to pay for other teams bills. We went from a strong 4000 per game to what we have now, roughly 1800-1900 per game. So some will return and some will not. but in time I think it will get back to a reasonable fan base.

Tornado Press Release

TEXAS TORNADO HOCKEY TO TAKE HIATUS DURING EXPANSION OF DR PEPPER STARCENTER IN FRISCO

FRISCO, Texas (May 14, 2008) Schlegel Sports, ownership group of the Texas Tornado hockey team, announced today the team will take a one-year hiatus while the City of Frisco and Dallas Stars complete an expansion of the Deja Blue Ice Arena at the Dr Pepper StarCenter in Frisco.

The Texas Tornado will resume normal operations in Spring 2009 for the 2009-2010 season at the Deja Blue Ice Arena. The expanded and renovated facility will feature more general and upgraded seating with a new second level, additional suites, an enhanced promenade, a new video board on the north end and two on the south end, and a new parking garage incorporating an additional 1,000 spaces.

Although we will have an interruption in regular operations, we plan to continue our involvement in the community and prepare for the 2009-10 season, said Kirby Schlegel, CEO of the Schlegel Sports. The expanded facility will give us the ability to better serve our fans, sponsors and players. We believe we will attract additional season ticket and suite holders as a result of the new opportunities in the expanded venue. We are very excited for the possibilities that lie ahead for the Texas Tornado.

Seating capacity for Tornado hockey will increase to 5,300 seats from the current configuration of 3,733 seats. A concourse level club lounge will be added with direct access to the suites on the west side of the arena. New restrooms, permanent concessions, a dining area, as well as 180 new east club seats with an adjacent club lounge, bar and dining space are also part of the expansion plan.

We have had tremendous support from our fans, sponsors, and host families," continued Schlegel. Our community can be very proud of the team and we will be back in full force for the 2009-10 season in an expanded, beautiful facility.

In April 2008, the NAHL Texas Tornado completed their ninth season. Under the ownership of Schlegel Sports, the Texas Tornado has won four Robertson Cup Championships. Schlegel Sports specializes in sports team ownership and management, which also includes the Iowa Stars of the American Hockey League and the Tacoma Rainiers of the Pacific Coast League. More information is available at www.schlegelsports.com.
