as the old saying goes, "whenever a man gives a woman flowers for no reason, there's a reason". v-day is for all the reasons she should have gotten them, but didn't.

B. "Somewhat" Thundergirl? I've had so much faith in you! However, I totally agree with you that everyone deserves a day off. Perhaps the best Valentine's Day gift doesn't come in a "Heart Shaped Box"?

The only reason I said "somewhat" is cause, if I have to use Valentines Day as an excuse to get Thunder gear, then hell, I'll take advantage of it being V-Day. But as far as chocolates go, I'd rather go buy a box myself after the holidays when it's half off.

I am DEAD serious when it comes to the FARCE of VDay. I detest it. I am not one of those girls to say "don't get me anything" when I really want something. That is not my style.

Netty knows how much I hate V-Day and how contrived it is. It is not as though I am against love - I am against organized extortion.
Look at how much that crap costs and how much our poor men are guilted into giving up every year... and for what? So the card companies have a little extra money coming in before Mother's day hits?
C'mon!
I have told Netty that I will be pissed off he spends his money on any of the pink, heart-shaped crap that they try to shove down our throats this time of year.
GAH! I HATE VALENTINES DAY!!!!

And, it is not as if I am not a romantic person. Netty always knows how I feel about him Bloos... I am not shy about it - but I will not, and I will not let him, be bullied into expressing ourselves.
That's what Valentines Day does. It bullies men into spending their money. Women actually fall into the ploy by guilting their men into participating.
Ladies - if you love your man - set him free of this farce!I beg you all!

Thank you for your time.
That is all.
Very Happy

I will buy my wife flowers and a card not because I feel pressure to but because I want to. She does not ask me to but is very appreciative of the fact that I think of her a little more on that particular day. I love my wife and I tell her daily. Going that extra little way on one day of the year is just another way of me telling her that. There is no way I can express to her how much she means to me. She is my life, my breath, my heartbeat. If you don't want anything for Valentines day that's fine. Some women do appreciate it though.

v-day is a lovers' "get out of jail free" card and a once annual chance to redeem yourself from spousal sin (so to speak). do not take it lightly.

Your meds must have kicked in.

Valentines day is nothing more than well-marketed blackmail. It is backed extortion of the American male.
It floors me that Women allow and enable their men to be guilted into merciless price-gouging.

Women of America - wouldn't it be better to get gifts and thoughts of love out of sincerity and not force?
Don't make your man pay $100.00 for roses that die in 7 days! Don't do it! If you love your man, let him off the hook.
Love cannot and should not be forced!

Don't fall into the trap that is Valentine's day!

To Netminder and other Glassrattlers who believe I, Dwight Schrute, am lacking in intelligence I bring the following:

"When the fire heats the water to the boiling point,
we have to keep it lighted with the same intensity,
because if we reduce its flame, the water gets cold.
It is not enough to boil the water, we have to keep it
boiling all the time."

- a famous oriental/asian karate proverb

That is my philosophy in a nutshell. And that is why
I study KARATE. (pronounced Ka-ra-TE').

I like to keep my water boiling all the time. That is
the essence of my male power. And why I'm so good at
sales. And why I'm so intense.

That is all.
Dwight K. Schrute

works pretty good 'til you run out of fuel, dwight. or 'til everything boils out of the pan. really, what do we need all that hot water for anyway? how about some "cool" for a change.

V-day isn't about extortion, flowers, or chocolate. It's about a babysitter, a night in a nice hotel (same town), a bubble bath for two in a a huge tub, and room service. If there's candles and potpourri; it's perfect. But mostly, it's about what happens before, during, and after all of the above. Just my thought.

Good Job on the quote button.......LOL

questions for Mr. Schrute

what does the key go to?
is it a key to your heart?
is it a key to a stock pile of beets and birkenstocks that could sustain you both in the event of a dunder mif coporate fallout?

LOL
