attendence is not really what this league is about... it is mostly a close friends/family/relatives type of scene at most games

I'd go a little higher... 75-100.

Catahoulas pull something like 400 a game, and El Paso will be in the 1,200-1,500 range when they start this season (based on the number of ST's sold).

I'd never use the numbers straight off Pointstreak. They count games where the attendance as not reported as a 0. So for some teams the numbers may be representative, but for many they are not.

I believe El Paso has reported every home game they've played... but then they have good reason to.

Yeah, I wasn't sure of some of those numbers. Looks like few of them actually report the attendance to pointstreak. The few games I've been at Tulsa the attendace was 400 or so, but I'm sure they've had some smaller attendance when the Oilers are in town.

Do you EVER have anything of substance to say, or do you live off sophomoric, smart-ass, moronic comments for a living?

The more "successful" Junior B teams in the U.S. draw around 400-500 a game. More than likely though, they are down around 250 or less. El Paso, looking at 1,200 to 1,500 a night, is the exception to the rule.

People in Topeka think they are getting something great. It will not take very long at all for the bloom to fade from this rose.

Maybe you should follow your own advice and just STFU.

Because of the history of lack of support for Topeka hockey teams, the WSHL Tilt will be a perfect fit here in the Capitol City. Judging by the attendance for the USHL team a few years ago, Topeka SHOULD be able to put 850-1100 fannies in the seats. More if the ticket prices are reasonable.

I'm already waiting for ticket prices to be posted so I can get season passes.

Marc, thanks for all your hard work in this venture. MC, Stagemaster & Bucketman have already gotten props from me on another board.

I agree w/Kev...it'll be nice to have hockey back in town.

I'm sorry. Sometimes when I am tired I tend to chew heads off and I don't mean to. We have worked very hard to make this happen and maybe I am just a little cranky and overly sensitive. At times like this I usually let Kev answer the questuions for me as he is a lot better at speech-a-fying than I am.

I really do hope this works for Topeka but the attendance that is posted for the WSHL is laughable. I have seen larger attendance at a 1A cross country meet! I do take offense of the comment that Topeka did not support hockey. In the first 3 years of the CHL, the only thing that drove fans away was the owner. Fleisig made the product worse and screwed up a good thing. If the Shawnnee Commisioners and Cook are happy to fill the stands with 75 fannies I say Go For It. The only sad thing is when it fails, hockey will be done in Topeka. You can say what you want about the CHL, they are old, thugs, washed up, whatever. BUT, they put THOUSANDS in the seats every game. This whole USHL & WSHL is a joke.

Like I said earlier you are entitled to your opinion. We understand how you feel. Please don't piss on our parade. If you don't want to go to the games then by all means don't. If you want to watch CHL then drive down to Wichita and watch. If you are expecting a Pro Team to ever come back to Topeka then you are dillusional, it's not going to happen. Hell, your fabulous CHL Tarantulas only averaged 1900 a game. So let us enjoy and support the Hockey we will have.

The reported attendance for the CHL's last less than triumphant run in Topeka was less than 3,000 per game, with the actual attendance probably being under 2,000 per game. Its not like the fans just flocked in to to see the pros play. Now, part of the attendance had to do with the team being so horrible and part of it had to do with the front office doing a horrible job, but part of it had to do with the fact that Topeka is too small of a market to support a CHL team for the long haul.

You can say what you want about the USHL or the WSHL or the NAHL, they are a joke or whatever. BUT, those are the only types of leagues that have ANY SHOT at making it in Topeka and being even close to financially viable. The CHL is not knocking on the door to get back into Topeka, they realize that this is not a good market for them. They are not coming back. If you don't want to support the new team, fine - don't support it. Enjoy your trips to Wichita or Omaha to watch hockey. Junior hockey is not for everyone, and that's just the way it is. But that is what can work in Topeka, so that is what is coming in. If the team fails because people refuse to support it, be sure to bitch about there not being anything to do and there not being any ice for the youth programs as well.

You mention that the only sad thing is that if this fails, hockey will be done in Topeka. Wake up. Without a junior team, hockey is done in Topeka already. Call up HR and ask him how many inquiries he had about bringing a professional team into Topeka since the Tarantulas left.
