Wildcats - hockey tealk

Anyone interested in talking hockey?

I see that the Wildcats are scrimmaging the OU Sooners this year. Nice to see that, is it the first time that the Cats have played a University team? Any predicitions on how a game like that might turn out?

How did did Cahill look at the tryouts? I believe that he took a year or two off from hockey but then made the current roster cut.

Seems like a pretty tough division for the Cats this year. Any thoughts on how we may stack up?

All kidding aside this is going to be a very good division. With the addition of Springfield and an always strong St. Louis team it will be fun to watch this year.

according to Bowkus, we have three very good scoring lines this year, unlike last year we had one GREAT scoring line. He feels that we have more skills than last years team.

But IMHO, I dont think we will score as many as we did last year, which will put more pressure on Jarboe and Graveline. I believe Graveline has had a better camp than Jarboe but Jarboe has lost 15 lbs and has said he worked out a lot in the weight room. Here is TRN article on Jarboe.

www.timesrecordnews.com/news/2008/aug/10/jarboe-battling-keep-starting-job-wildcats/

This year will either make or break Jarboe's hockey career. It will be interesting to see how he fares, especially early part of season when we may not score as many goals.

I look for McKenzie to step up his scoring this year, as well as Sponny and Delaurell.

I think part of the problem was he did not play all his lines that much, seemed the first line was out there every other shift most games, hard to develop additional lines when the players are sitting on the bench most of the game. I think it will be either sink or swim for Jarboe, if he dosen't come out that strong I think he will be traded... There is no excuse when you are in your last year in Juniors.

I think the rookies from last year will step up and with the players they picked up, it should be a very competive team. Now its just a matter of time if they can become focused and dedicated to what lies ahead.

I don't know about jarboe , I sat and talked with him a few times , for him to lose 15 pounds , sounds like alot he never looked heavy to me ,15 pounds would make him outright skinny to me ????

That may not be a bad thing Lloyd. He could be quicker in net after losing some weight.

I think one of the big question marks for the all of the teams in the South is what St. Louis will look like. Generally excellent programs continue on for several years and are always tough. However, when you consider the amount of firepower St. Louis lost last year (they lost most of the their top scorers to college, plus any others that aged out and/or are now in the USHL) with the fact they have had the coaching change(s) this offseason, it is tough to know how they will look.

If St. Louis looks anything like they did last year, it is going to be tough for the Wildcats or anyone else to win the South.

Contrary to what wcr says on the tt thread, the cats have lost a very good young forward in Adam Mitchell. 90 born 6'2" power forwards are hard to come by.
